I missed the shout out to GP in the closing ceremonies. What did they say about it? I didnt know Cheryl Bernarrd was from GP actually. However I did hear some weak ass excuse that she had the flu..Even with the flu you should be able to avoid back to back steals. Tough break…cant win them all I guess…

I had to rewind and watch that part again Walks, just to see if he actually said what I thought he said. And he did. Linc you forgot to mention Cheryl Bernard. She’s from GP originally. (She won the silver, I mean lost the gold)

Another thing that should make the people of the Peace Region happy are the many times North-Eastern BC and North-Western Alberta were given recognition. Whether it being Cody Hay(born in Dawson Creek, trained all over the Peace country), Denny Morrison…he of the Gold Medal in Team Pursuit speed skating, from FSJ, Chris Schmidt from Beaverlodge(Mens hockey player for Germany), or the shout out to Dawson Creek after the Women won gold, acknowledging that the town of DC is where the women started their journey to gold. A little known fact about the closing ceremonies is that the Canadian Opera singer “Ben Hepner” is also born and raise in Dawson Creek and a road has been named after him as a token of his global achievments. Lets not only be proud to be Canadian, but also to be fortunate enough to be surrounded by dedicated, skilled indiviuals from the coaching ranks all the way down to athletes, and back up again to organizations and committees that make it possible for each and every one of us to have the opportunity to thrive.

Great post Darren!! You stated all the things I felt about the games but just more eloquently! What an amazing time to be Canadian.
