DON’T BE DUMB

The title of this is simple and more or less a heads up for the many friends I have who have no god damn clue about computers or the internet but are more or less facebook junkies who I’ve told time and time again about the added security risks involved in using social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace.

For old times sake I’ll just flat out say that if you have a lot of personal information on your profile (such as your address, phone number, etc) then you’re nothing more then a whore who is about to get bent over and rammed by the sweet shaft of identity theft.  Facebook says there are ways to limit profile views which is good and all but that doesn’t take into account the (rumoured) leak of personal information that goes along with adding Facebook apps.  Nothing is SAFE and if I were you I would turn off your computer right now and go feed the homeless.

Needless to say I’ve preached on that for the last year or so but no one cares, hell I don’t even care…I hold out hope some hot female identity theft stalker is going to track me down and violate me.  But thats not the point of this quick ramble, it’s more or less a heads up for all you not so intelligent computer people out there (and there are a LOT OF YOU) who will probably get suckered into handing over your facebook username and password without a bat of the eye.  I could proceed to name people who would be gullible enough to fall for it but feel I have no right to lecture people on computers at this moment when I just finished formatting my entire hard drive last week.

Here’s the heads up.

Today I received a chat message from someone on my friends list claiming that a certain blog writer had written something bad about me.  I didn’t recognize the name (something like amanda.blogspot.com) but clicked it anyway thinking someone may have stumbled across hotstickybun and decided it was inhuman to race homeless people.  I immediately was redirected to the facebook login page…or was I?

In fact I was redirected to a replica facebook login site.  The only difference was the domain name, faceiibook.com.

This shit has been going on for years and is nothing new, just a cheap way to gain access to someones user account and personal information.  What these people are after who knows, it could be a joke about your own stupidity or they could in fact be logging and checking your personal information to try to steal your identity.

PRESTO, thats it.

Other then that be sure to check out the new look of the bun, I’ve got a couple of schmucks who are contributing blogs which should make things a little less dull, I mean honestly who wants to sit here and read me talk about how scary facebook is?

And if by chance you have visited the site and noticed a few things out of whack (most noticably the right sidebar underneath everything else) then don’t be a douche bag and stop using Internet Explorer 6.  Use Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, or at the very least IE 7.

I can fix it, I’m just to damn lazy to do it and feel I shouldn’t have too because your dumb enough to still be using the internets worst web browser (see shitty web standards and multiple security flaws as explanations why.)

Till next time Kiddies!

The Grand Daddy, godfather, greybush, manatee, etc of Hotstickybun Walks has been writing, designing, and re-designing this website for over 5 years in hopes of one day finding someone gullible enough to purchase it for over a million dollars so he can move to Mexico and live on a beach sipping margaritas all day.
