The Latest Internet Phenomenon

| 3 Responses

Aside from the abundance of free porn (*cough cough* spankwire.com for those that didn’t know) the internet has been known to have a ridiculous cult following on videos, prank calls, songs, and even people. If you’ve been on the internet or alive the last couple years you already know what the hell I’m talking about, social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace are phenomenons but for the most part they actually serve a purpose in providing the opportunity to stalk people, the phenoms Im talking about are much more entertaining, here let me give you an example…

Example #1 – The sad reality of this example is that it actually became a top hit in Canada over the summer of 2001, needless to say I dont have to ask what kind of whacky tobacky people were smoking back that year.

Example #2 – Another massive phenomen that actually gained even more exposure after it went primetime on the cartoon Family Guy.

Example #3 – I’ll actually pay money to anyone who hasn’t heard this before as I’m pretty sure it existed the moment the internet was born.

Example #4 – Who could forget the internet chain letter apparently from Microsoft and AOL claiming they are conducting a beta test and for each person you forward the e-mail to, you will receive a payment from Gates of more than $200. Realistic contact information for a lawyer appears in the message. Oddly enough I STILL GET THESE.

The list could go on and on but these are probably some of the more notable ones that you people have seen. Some of the more recent ones that only nerds such as myself have probably seen are:

lolcats which are image macros featuring cats with captions, typically in Internet slang or leet.

O RLY – short for “Oh, really?” is a popular Internet phenomenon, typically presented as an image macro featuring a Snowy Owl. The phrase “O RLY?” is typically used in a sarcastic or sardonic manner, often in response to a statement that the speaker feels is obvious, or blatantly self-contradictory.

Chuck Norris Facts – Who hasnt heard of this, like “There is no ‘ctrl’ button on Chuck Norris’s computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.”

Evolution of DanceJudson Laipply performs a medley of dances. The video has over 80 million views on Youtube – currently their most viewed video.

and last but not certainly not least

2 Girls 1 Cup – Perhaps the greatest cult phenomenon ever made, if you havent seen it and like naked girls and poo then this is for you.

Alas though the latest phenomenon is upon us

By watching this you’ve offically been Rick Roll’d, yeah I don’t know what it means either but get used to it because with the massive amounts of chain emails and massive garbage floating on MySpace and Facebook you’ll be seeing it over and over and over and over and over and over.

And over

And over

Recently the New York Mets held a competition for their 8th inning sing along and thanks to the millions of Fark.com and Digg.com users Shea Stadium got Rick Roll’d.

5 million people cant go wrong, its a magical song the only thing missing is Rick Astley singing it himself.

Walks

The Grand Daddy, godfather, greybush, manatee, etc of Hotstickybun Walks has been writing, designing, and re-designing this website for over 5 years in hopes of one day finding someone gullible enough to purchase it for over a million dollars so he can move to Mexico and live on a beach sipping margaritas all day.
