From stalking on Facebook to having romantic affairs online thee world is a changing. One can argue that most people out there have at least at some point been tempted or curious to try out the online dating world, after all some people are that desperate to fall in love or at the very least have some dirty sex. For years the general consensus has been that online dating is for ugly, fat, or ugly fat people. No one wants to admit to it if they are secretly doing it but things are different these days and times are changing(then again maybe not in Northern Alberta but just wait). With the online world changing daily so is the technology. Dating websites are a huge success all over the world and while some will laugh and make fun they are effective and trendy. Yet a new website will possibly revolutionize the whole system and put an end to having to endlessly search through the thousands of desperate people out there. Say hello to WooMe.
Online dating plus video conferencing equals WooMe. We’ve all heard of speed dating I’m sure by now, who can forget it after watching 40 Year Old Virgin.
But what exactly is WooMe. Well quite simply its a form of online speed dating. What happens is you sign up for a session. Once your session begins you’re connected via video to another person – you have 60 seconds to make an impression (so if you consider yourself a smooth talker I suggest you give it a shot). Once the minute is up you’re automatically connected to another. Five in a row in five minutes. The UI is brilliantly simple: a few keywords to inspire conversation… some of her/his interests. You can also give your impression of the person in ONE word.
Its actually somewhat comical but pretty effective none the less. I suggest anyone if they’re bored to try it out, I had a good chuckle to say the least. It’s easy to use and surprisngly not full of ugly lonely people!
By the sounds of it (I havent had time to check it out yet there is a WooMe application for you junkies on Facebook already)
Anyways Im off to the Oilers game
